Glass and Fiberglass in the Glass Industry

Glass Industry

Our Calcium Oxide is the super choice of raw material for the production of glass. Quicklime is used as a stabiliser for modifying viscosity and increasing the durability and chemical wear resistance of the final products.

Our Calcium products are high in purity, exceptionally low in iron content with a homogeneous particle size, are widely used in glass manufacturing applications. The product quality makes our products the preferred commodities to be used in flint (clear) glass production. Manufacturers prefer our Quicklime as it supersedes the performance of calcined materials. Our Quicklime improves energy utilisation, effective capacity, material quality and furnace operation.

Our GCC is a an essential calcium component in the manufacture of container and flat glass. High purity, consistent colour and low levels of impurities are essential. GCC is also a common ingredient in pottery glazes.

Fiberglass Manufacturing

Our Quicklime is also found in Fiberglass manufacturing applications. The high percentage of purity, low iron content with a homogeneous particle size make our products the preferred choice for both continuous and wool Fiberglass manufacturing operations.

In addition, our Precipitated Calcium Carbonate (PCC) is commonly utilised in fiberglass reinforced polyester composite applications, such as sheet moulding compounds (SMC) and bulk moulding compounds (BMC), where it functions as a cost-effective extender with positive effects such as lowering viscosity and regulate shrinkage while maintaining fiberglass integrity.

The rhombohedral form of our PCC provides for maximum particle packing and minimises glass breakage during processing and moulding operations.
